COMET C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)

In 2024, the world got to witness a spectacular and rare event.  Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)  passed through our solar system at a nearly perfect time and placement for observers all over the world to amaze at its beauty.

I therefore had to wait until the comet circled behind the sun and emerge in the evening sky.
I ventured out to one of my favorite viewing spots - Tecopa California.
Although the moonlight lessened the visual of the comet, it simultaneously illuminated the valley, giving a unique view of both the comet and the Earth below.

I was excited to get both a meteor AND the comet in a single exposure!

I attempted to catch  a shot of the comet as it slipped from being a morning object behind the sun.  Sadly I was a day or two late for catching it.  By the time I was able to get away, it was already too close to the sun to capture on film.

I did, however get some fairly cool shots of the Amboy Lions in the pre-dawn sky.
